Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I need a visa or student permit to study at ECU?

Yes. The Government of Uganda requires all international students to hold a valid Student Permit. The EISD (International Students Desk) will assist you in applying for this permit through the Ministry of Internal Affairs once you are settled. Note that permits are free for East African Community (EAC) citizens and USD 100 for students from outside the EAC

International applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of USD 35. For tuition and functional fees, the university provides specific US Dollar (USD) bank account details. You can also consult the Dean’s office for guidance on secure electronic transfer methods to ensure your payments are tracked correctly.

You must upload a single PDF containing your academic transcripts (starting from O-Level or its equivalent), your birth certificate or passport bio-data page, and your application fee receipt. If your previous qualifications were obtained outside of Uganda, the EISD can guide you on how to have them equated by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) or NCHE.

Once you submit your completed application through the online portal, you can expect to receive official feedback within 7 working days. This feedback will be sent directly to your registered email and will also be available on your application portal.
