Ernest Cook University (ECUREI) recently partnered with the Uganda Association for Sonography (UGASON) and the ERIC Cancer Initiative to provide vital medical services during the annual Breast Cancer Run. Held at the Nakasero Primary School Playground, this high-impact event united the community in a collective race toward early detection and improved breast health awareness.
Advancing Early Detection Through Sonography

During the event, ECUREI’s expert sonographers worked alongside UGASON to offer free breast cancer screenings to participants. By bringing diagnostic technology directly to the field, we emphasized that early recognition is the most critical factor in successful cancer management.

Empowering Participants with Health Education

Beyond the physical run, the “Eric Breast Cancer Campaign” served as a platform for essential health literacy. Every participant who visited the ECUREI station left equipped with:
- Self-Examination Techniques: Knowledge on how to monitor breast health at home.
- Clinical Insights: Understanding the importance of regular professional check-ups.
- Diagnostic Guidance: Information on where to seek advanced imaging if needed.
Our Ongoing Dedication to Community Health
ECUREI’s involvement in the Breast Cancer Run reaffirms our mission to close the healthcare access gap in Uganda. We believe that by providing accessible screenings and professional expertise, we can shift the narrative around breast cancer toward hope and recovery. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the ERIC Cancer Initiative in future health drives.
